      The World Coastal Forum kicked off and ZEHO ECO shared NbS practical experience during the National Ocean Carbon Sink Alliance Conference

      From January 10 to 11, the World Coastal Forum hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province was held in Yancheng. Beijing ZEHO Waterfront Ecological Environment Treatment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZEHO ECO) was invited to share the practical experience of NbS at the National Ocean Carbon Sink Alliance Conference.

      During the forum, Li Bao Jun, the vice president of ZEHO ECO, delivered a speech of “From Rivers and Lakes to Oceans - Exploration and Practice of Ecological Engineering Methods for Coastal Ecological Restoration” at the National Ocean Carbon Sink Alliance Conference. Guo Jiguang, the vice president of Smart Technology BU, delivered a speech of “Practice of Nature-based Solutions in Waterfront Space Ecological Restoration at the Special Seminar on the Practice of Nature-based Solutions (NbS). From the perspective of practice, the application of NbS and ecological engineering method is explained through practical cases, and successful cases are summarized to provide wisdom and reference for promoting the scientific protection, ecological restoration, rational utilization and sustainable development of marine blue carbon sink, coastal wetland and waterfront space.

      Li Baojun introduced that the Blue Bay project of Mazu city in Putian undertaken by ZEHO ECO restored the natural habitat and enhanced the blue carbon sink through the pseudo-natural ecological construction method. Through the collection, analysis and simulation of basic data such as natural habitat, water quality and hydrodynamic forces, and in combination with the needs of ecological environment and landscape pattern, various measures such as returning to the beach for retirement, wetland restoration, tidal inflow in the inner bay, ecological transformation of seawall and restoration of windbreak forest were applied according to local conditions to create a sustainable coastal water land boundary zone by ecological engineering methods such as geotechnical meadow and shrub cushion cutting, and 29.8 km of coastline was successfully renovated, Renovate 6.2 square kilometers of sea area, repair 1.75 square kilometers of wetlands, and create a “Blue Bay” ecological restoration demonstration area.

      The “Ecological Housekeeper” product developed by ZEHO ECO, as Putian’s intelligent Bay integrated management system, can accurately monitor, collect and analyze environmental indicators such as water, air and soil in the coastal zone, dynamically monitor ecological indicators such as plants and animal species, and contribute to the restoration and construction of Putian coastal zone ecosystem through carbon sink monitoring, carbon neutralization deduction and evaluation, and ecosystem GDP (GEP) accounting The measurement of ocean blue carbon sink provides scientific data support.

      Combined with the characteristics of regional hydrology and meteorology, the ecological restoration of the River in Lingshan Island, Nansha, Guangzhou, has been carried out by using a variety of combined ecological engineering methods such as geotechnical format and branch sinking bed. The ecological restoration project of the abundant canal in the Nansihu Lake Basin designed and constructed by ZEHO ECO creates a multi-dimensional composite three-dimensional space of “water bank beach embankment” of the abundant canal through four-dimensional ecological buffer zones and eight types of purified wetlands.


      From the perspective of ecological project practice, Guo Jiguang shared the experience of ZEHO ECO in the ecological restoration of the lakeside zone of Erhai Lake in Dali and the lakeside zone of Chao Lake in Anhui, integrating the international concept of NbS into the whole process from analysis, construction to implementation and operation, promoting the implementation of technology transformation, and realizing the diversified transformation of ecological space value.

      “All things have their own harmony to live, and each has its own nourishment to become.” At the intersection of the sea and the land, ZEHO ECO will actively practice the Nature-based Solutions, restore the waterfront ecosystem with the pseudo-natural ecological engineering method, enhance the blue carbon sink of the water body, and provide a practical example for the scientific protection, rational utilization and sustainable development of the waterfront space.
