Learn more >On December 14, 2022, ZEHO ECO won the bid for the Ecological Protection and Restoration Project of Duntou Bay Coral Reef in Dongfang City, with the winning amount of 78.99 million RMB yuan. This project is one of the special funds supported by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Natural Resources for marine ecological protection and restoration in 2022.
In order to strengthen the construction of marine ecological civilization, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Natural Resources organized the declaration of marine ecological protection and restoration projects supported by the central government in 2022. In October 2021, the marine ecological protection and restoration project of Dongfang City, Hainan, which was organized and declared by Dongfang City, stood out in the competitive review organized by the state, and was shortlisted for the list of projects supported by the central government, and received 250 million RMB yuan from the central government.
The Duntou Bay Coral Reef Ecological Protection and Restoration Project in Dongfang City is in the sea area about 3.0km south of the Beili River in Duntou Bay, with a restoration area of 23ha, including 10ha for the restoration of coral reefs, 10ha for the planting of coral reefs, and 3ha for the coral nursery area. The main construction contents include coral reef restoration, coral planting and the construction of coral reef protection monitoring platform system.

The project adopts the Nature-based Solutions (NbS) - the ecological restoration concept of “natural restoration first, supplemented by artificial support”, and fully combines the marine ecological environment when using reef materials, so that the reef and the habitat formed around it are not only conducive to the attachment, metamorphosis, growth and development of coral natural larvae, but also can repair and maintain the health of reef community structure, maintain the health of ecosystem and protect biodiversity. A nursery area is set up for the cultivation of coral seedlings, and the coral seedlings cultivated in the nursery are used to replant the corals in the adjacent waters.
The project sets up a monitoring platform to provide the function of coral reef ecological status assessment and realize the automatic assessment of regional ecological status and the “one map” visual display function. Implementing the project is conducive to increasing the biodiversity of the seabed in Duntou Bay, improving the marine ecological environment, forming a coastal protective barrier, and improving the coastal disaster prevention and mitigation capability.
