On August 24, the headline story of CCTV News broadcasted a report titled "Erhai Lake Management Shifts from 'Lake Management' to 'Ecological Management,'" focusing on the protection and management of Erhai Lake in Dali, Yunnan, and the transition in the region's development. This shift represents a transition from "lake management" to "watershed management" and "ecological management," paving the way for a high-quality, sustainable development approach to comprehensive water ecological environment management.
In March 2019, ZEHO ECO officially launched the ecological restoration and wetland design scheme for the lakeshore buffer zone around Erhai Lake. The project involves the overall design for Erhai Lake's ecological protection and restoration, promoting the construction of the lakeshore buffer zone and ecological corridors. By using Nature-based Solutions (NbS), the project aims to create a natural, healthy, and sustainable lakeshore buffer zone that facilitates water purification and ecological restoration, providing a technical model for ecological restoration around the entire Erhai lakeshore.
This project has received numerous national and international honors, including the IFLA Landscape Architecture Award, the LILA International Landscape Award, and recognition as one of the Top 100 Innovative Projects in Ecological Environment during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. It has garnered widespread recognition from industry experts for its innovative concepts and technologies.
President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need to protect the ecological environment as we protect our eyes and to take a long-term perspective in environmental protection. On the shores of Erhai Lake, President Xi urged local cadres and residents to protect Erhai Lake. Over the past decade, following the President's instructions, efforts around the protection and management of Erhai Lake and the transformation of its basin have led to a shift from "lake management" to "watershed management" and "ecological management," carving out a high-quality, sustainable development path for comprehensive water ecological management.
